Introduction to Sustainable Development and Sustainability in Project Management
Perhaps if the concept of Sustainable Development had not been formed by the end of the 20th century, we would now be facing depleted resources that were irreversible, and hunger and poverty were more significant than we see today.
Over the past few decades, Sustainable Development has sought to focus on the environment, humans, and the economy. The principle of attention to the next generation, along with the balanced development of new businesses and moving to the cutting-edge technology, is the main goal of sustainable development.
As a significant part of gaining world business, the implementation of projects is no exception to the use of sustainable development. Projects must be a manifestation of sustainability, but their management must also be sustainable. They need to think about the balance between developing and maintaining the environment and resources before thinking about the iron triangle and classical constraints of scope, time, and cost.
On the one hand, designers and idea developers should design and develop Sustainable and Green projects. On the other hand, project managers should use sustainability in project implementation and project management processes effectively.

We are looking to shift the new attitude, which is to pay attention to sustainability principles in project management. This significant change of individuals begins with a kind of change in cultures.

The Iran PMA’s Young Crew, after successfully holding two congresses in recent years, intends to hold the 3rd congress with a different and up-to-date approach, based on different global conditions created by utilizing the capabilities of cyberspace.
The Iran YC will hold the 3rd congress focusing on the discussion of sustainability and indicators of sustainable development in project management, taking into account the social responsibility of the association and the young members community and those interested in the project management due to distance from the capital have benefited less from the association’s face-to-face educational and professional services, with the focus on sustainable development and with the slogan “SUSTAINABLE PROJECT MANAGEMENT BEYOND GEOGRAPHICAL BORDERS AND PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION BARRIERS” as a virtual event.
This online event will be held internationally with a focus on sustainable development and will host a scientific, academic and professional community in the field of project management and sustainable development principles.
